The rear panel is populated with six 1/4 inch jacks and a power jack.

Rear Panel

1. Left (Mono) Input

If you have separate left and right inputs, connect your left input to this jack. If you’re using a mono input/stereo output configuration, connect to this input if you want the delays to “ping-pong” between the right and left outputs (for delay types with multiple taps).

2. Right Input

If you have separate left and right inputs, connect your right input to this jack. If you’re using a mono input/stereo output configuration, connect it to this input if you want all delays (other than dual-delays) to be panned center.

3. Main Outputs

Connect the outputs to your amp or mixer. Use only the left output for mono, or connect both for full stereo sound.

4. Footswitch Input

Connect an optional 3-button FS3X footswitch to this input to step through the memory locations. On the FS3X, the right button moves you up one memory location, and the center button moves you down one location. When Looper is selected, the left button takes you directly to overdubbing. Connect or disconnect the optional FS3X footswitch only when the TimeBenderTM is turned off.

5. Expression Pedal Input

Connect any (tip/sleeve or tip/ring/sleeve) passive expression pedal to this input to morph between two different delay settings. (Any volume pedal in the 100 kOhm – 500 kOhm range, with log taper, will work as well.) See Expression Pedal Description for details on how to use an expression pedal with the TimeBender.

6. Power Supply Jack

Connect the PS0913B power supply here.

    hiya,
just wondered if using the external footswitch you could add tap tempo to one switch
    as well as having up/down?
    cheers

Hi Paul - I'm not completely sure, but i think the external FS is used for preset up/dn and some looper function (I think it allows you to overdub right away), which frees up the right FS on the unit to be used exclusively for tap tempo. I don't believe it is possible to use the external FS for tap tempo.

    Hiya

Does it HAVE to be a Digitech FS3X external footswitch? Or can I use, say, a 2 button TRS footswitch and just use it to cycle through the memories?

    Thanks

    Andy

  4. TimeBender Says:

Hi Andy - I am not sure about that. I only have a FS3. Anyone else try a different kind of footswitch?

I've tried it with a BOSS active FS6 Dual footswitch with selectable Latch/momentarily and polarity switches. You can use it as a TimeBender footswitch but only work in up and down preset mode. The thing is, if you have selected preset 2 you have to press up thrice to get to preset 1 again. You can't back (press just once on another switch) to preset number one, which I think you can do with fs3. The Boss is unwieldy cause it runs on batteries only. No need to use such fancy footswitch, in order to see if anything is on or off with the leds. You see on the TimeBender where you are anyway.

So the left button of the BOSS is just used for the looper, the right CYCLES you clockwise through the presets. One direction only. So it's not really that helpful. You need a 3 switch pedal with a function that makes you not having to press down the switches at the same time on the TimeBender to go to the preset mode.

The right pedal switch on the TimeBender works as the tap tempo always. You can't assign the external footswitch to change to tap tempo. Which would be more useful IMHO. Then you could choose a lightweight touch button switch which just use the lightest force to trigger any tap. The right switch on the TimeBender is too slow to trigger immediately, you almost have to tap with your foot ahead of the beat to make it sync. Due to it's sturdiness, and long "travel" to make it trigger.

On the other hand, I knew of one person who used a single touch pad to tap tempo on his floor board. Once, the thick guitar cable came over it, while he was running around on stage, happened to accidentally trigger it due to it's weight, and whacked the delay totally out of sync. Not with a TimeBender hough.

Funny thing and peculiar in this manual, very very confusing. When describing the back panel in the copy ABOVE, on EXPRESSION PEDAL INPUT it says:

... Connect any (tip/sleeve or tip/ring/sleeve) passive expression pedal to this input to morph between two different delay settings....

But in the manual I've got and the one on their site, on page 14 as well, in PDF format it says only.. well, I've checked once again:

... Connect a mono (tip/sleeve) passive expression pedal to this input to morph between two different delay settings....

I don't know if this site or copy has been altered or if the manual from their side has been changed lately. You know, every manual says "specifications are subject to change without prior notifications". Maybe this is one such case?

In the manual it says "Tip/Sleeve" ONLY for the Expression pedal. But above it says "Tip/Ring/Sleeve" as well. Actually I doubt seriously if ANY of it would work just as good. I think you can't really use them interchangeably with equally good results. I have yet to see any TRS plug work in here, with an expression pedal.

    ;-)

one specific question here regarding the outputs and loop mode...

it says it puts out stereo delay throuth the stereo outputs but the looper sums stereo to mono.

    what does that exactly do?
when you are in loop mode and have a stereo setup, will the loop signal come out of both outputs or will it come out just from the first and if so, will the second put out the straight signal in this case or is it muted?

hope youre still on this page... thank you!

  8. TimeBender Says:

It will come out equally on both the left and right when you have a stereo setup.
